Resurfacing scheme for Knock Road, Dervock

 A £214,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on B66 Knock Road, Dervock will commence on Monday 15 March 2021.

Road resurfacing scheme for C507 Tirbracken Road, Drumahoe

A £153,000 resurfacing scheme on the C507 Tirbracken Road, Drumahoe is due to commence on 15 March 2021.

The scheme which starts near the junction with the Edenreagh Road and continue eastwards for a distance of 615 metres, will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the road.

A £100,000 parapet upgrade on the Maghera Flyover Bridge on the A6 Glenshane Road is due to commence on 15 March 2021.

The proposed works involve the replacement of the existing parapet, along with the upgrade of the vehicle restraint systems adjoining the bridge, to meet current standards.

Hyde Road bridge replacement scheme completed

Work on a bridge replacement scheme which will improve journey times along Hyde Road is now fully complete.  

The major project, which centred on the demolition and replacement of a former railway bridge over the A57 in the Gorton area, will significantly improve traffic flow in both directions of travel, particularly at peak travel hours, by removing a notorious pinch point between Far Lane and Wall Way.

Construction work to start on new section of York flood scheme

The Environment Agency has started construction work on a major section of its York Flood Alleviation Scheme this week.

£4.5m to help thousands in central Scotland get gigabit speed broadband

Central Scotland will be the first area to benefit from the UK government’s record £5 billion investment in next-generation broadband.

Major demolition works underway for Great Yarmouth's Third River Crossing

Major demolition works began in Great Yarmouth this week to make way for the town’s Third River Crossing, one of the key infrastructure projects for the county being delivered by Norfolk County Council.

The Great Yarmouth Third River Crossing will link the A47 at Harfrey’s roundabout to the port and the enterprise zone on the other side of the river. The bridge will ease traffic congestion on the town’s roads, shortening journey times and improve journey reliability, as well as supporting wider plans and work to maximise investment, regeneration and economic growth opportunities in the town and wider area.

£310,000 road improvement scheme for C554 Sixtowns Road, Draperstown

A resurfacing scheme on the C554 Sixtowns Road will commence on Monday 1 March 2021.

The scheme, which is approximately 2.5 kilometres in length, will start from the Blackrock Road towards Draperstown.

To facilitate the works it will be necessary

A new footway and cycleway scheme on the A29 Tobermore Road & Maghera Road, Tobermore, will commence on Monday 1 March 2021.

Lane closure during resurfacing work

The scheme, which is approximately 2.4 kilometres in length, will start from the existing footway and cycleway at Mullagh Road to Fortwilliam Road.

Minister Mallon said:

“This much needed investment will help promote sustainable travel between Maghera & Tobermore.

“I am committed to increasing the opportunities for active travel and I am pleased that the new pavement and cycleway being delivered by this scheme will greatly enhance provision for walking, wheeling and cycling.” 

Two-way traffic flow will be maintained for the duration of the works with lane closures under traffic signal control. In the interests of public safety and the safety of the contractor’s workforce the public is asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to drive with extra care when travelling in the vicinity of the works.

The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public. Road users are advised to avoid the area whenever possible, allow extra time for their journey and to follow the alternative routes which will be clearly signed on the approaches to the closure.

Completion of the work by Friday 30 April 2021 is subject to favourable weather conditions, however, the Department will keep the public informed of any change.  All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.
