Milano Cortina 2026 Preview - Day 1

Milano Cortina 2026 Preview: Day 1

Team GB will compete across four sports on Day 1 of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.

Bruce Mouat and Jen Dodds return to the curling rink, while there is action in cross-country skiing, figure skating and freestyle skiing.

Curling

Bruce Mouat and Jen Dodds continue their mixed doubles campaign with their sixth and seventh matches of the round robin stage.

The pair are in a commanding position following a strong start that included victories over Sweden and Korea on Friday.

They face Canada at 10:05 before taking on the USA at 14:35.

Cross-Country

Anna Pryce flies the flag for Team GB in the women’s 10km + 10km skiathlon, which gets underway at 13:00 in Tereso.

Pryce became the first British woman to compete in the Cross-Country World Cup since 2019 this season.

Figure Skating

Edward Appleby rounds off Team GB’s qualification efforts in the figure skating team event.

Team GB currently sit in eighth place after Friday’s action, which saw Lilah Fear, Lewis Gibson, Anastasia Vaipan-Law, Luke Digby, and Kristen Spours all take to the ice.

Team GB need a top five finish to progress to the final and if successful, Fear and Gibson will compete in the free dance from 22:05 on Saturday evening.

Freestyle Skiing

Kirsty Muir begins her second Olympic campaign with women’s slopestyle qualification from 10:30.

Muir won X Games gold in the event last month and finish eighth in Beijing four years ago.

The slopestyle final will take place from 12:30 on Monday 9 February.
