REMINDER: Pump replacement project begins at Goole station subway next week

Goole station visitors are reminded that Network Rail’s subway pump replacement project will get under way next week.

The long-awaited £2.2m investment, starting on Monday 17 February, involves installing new equipment at both sides of Boothferry Road.

While the changes will not completely resolve the flooding issue, they will

allow a much improved response to incidents and vastly reduce disruption.

Matt Shelton, Network Rail route engineer, said: “We’re aware that flooding at Goole subway has long been a concern for residents and rail passengers.

“We recognise the importance of this issue and thank everyone who uses the subway or lives nearby for their patience and understanding while we carry out the improvements.”

One section at a time will be closed when work starts on Monday 17 February to maintain pedestrian access to the station and shops. Both platforms will remain open and accessible throughout.

Motorists are reminded that temporary road lane closures will be in place on Boothferry Road to allow the improvements to take place.

The project has a July target for completion and most of the work will take place on weekdays between 7am and 5pm.
