Norfolk County Council’s award-winning Adult Learning service is once again celebrating excellent GCSE results today.
The service has seen its great success continued
across both English and maths GCSEs this year. 84% of its maths GCSE students achieved Grade 4 or above and 73% of English GCSE students achieved Grade 4 or above.Year on year, more Norfolk adults are choosing to study their English and maths GCSEs with Adult Learning, and this fantastic achievement has continued to maintain the outstanding three-year upward trend in success rates for their GCSE learners.
Margaret Dewsbury, cabinet member for communities and partnerships at Norfolk County Council said: “Congratulations to all the student’s this year in the Adult Learning service: these results, especially in a year that has seen the challenges of lockdowns and social distancing, are something they can all take pride in. Each result is a further step in a student’s journey through their courses and into their future careers.
“But as well as that, today is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the tutors in the service, who have helped their students through extraordinary times and can be equally proud of today’s results.”
This is particularly commendable due to the more rigorous Teacher Assessment process laid out by the Government and reflects the hard work of its learners and tutors to meet those requirements whilst courses were delivered 100% online due to the challenges of the pandemic.
Denise Saadvandi, Head of Adult Learning said: “These GCSE results reflect the outstanding dedication of our staff and learners, who have worked online throughout and, despite the challenges they have faced as a result of the pandemic, achieved such exceptional outcomes. A great end to a year in which Adult Learning won the national Tes Award for Adult and Community Learning provider of the year.”
This year saw 111 learners take GCSE English and maths with Norfolk County Council’s Adult Learning service.
